Talking about careers

I was lucky to be invited to give a talk at the University of Oregon. I spoke about my transition from plasma physics to software product management. I’ve given career talks to grad students before, but I decided to take this one in a different direction. It was a bit experimental for me. I was quite happy with how it turned out. Check it out and let me know what you think.

And this time I’m serial: I will restart more frequent blogging!

  1. I got about halfway through it when I had to stop watching for the time being, but so far it’s great. My older son is going through some post-college career angst and I think I will have him watch it.

  2. I really liked this. I especially liked your “Questions to Ask” section, and the way those questions frame important considerations in a simple way. I’ve discovered a lot of these same things by accident – I wish someone had spoken to my class in law schools so I could have avoided some mistakes I’ve made along my career path.
